You can drop in at Alameda Botanic Garden for sightseeing in Gibraltar. It is also known as Gibraltar Botanical Garden and it covers a total area of 6 hectares. This garden was founded in 1816 by the then Governor General, named General George Don, for recreational purpose of the army men of that time. The garden was in a dilapidated condition up to 1970, until again initiatives were taken to repair it in 1991.
There are different varieties of flora, which you can see during your trip to the park and you, can also have a look at the bronze statue of General Elliot, which is there right in center of the park. - Shrine of Our Lady of Europe
Shrine of Our Lady of Europe is one of the ancient cathedrals which you can visit for sightseeing in Gibraltar. It is a Roman Catholic Shrine which is located at the Europa Point, where the Catholic patroness of Gibraltar was honored.
During the beginning of the 14th century a small mosque was built in Europa Point, which was later converted into a church. The interiors of the church has various paintings and motifs that of the medieval age. The structure of the church also reflects typical medieval architecture, which reflects history of that era.
- Ibrahim- Al- Ibrahim Mosque
The mosque of Ibrahim- Al- Ibrahim is also known as the King Fahd bin Abdulaziz al- Saud Mosque, is located at the south of the Rock of Gibraltar, at Europaq Point. This mosque was opened for public viewing on 8th August 1997 and this mosque was a gift from King Fahd of Saudi Arabia and it took nearly tow years for completion of the mosque.
This mosque is in fact one of the largest mosque that was built in a non-Muslim country and is one of the famous places of tourist attractions. Apart from the mosque, there is also school, lecture hall, payer hall, library hall etc. This is the only mosque in the region which is visited by the Muslims of the country.
