Castle Spotting

Hauteville House

Hauteville House was formerly the house of Victor Hugo who used to live here after his exile from France. Later the house was donated to the City of Paris in March 1927. Presently this place houses the French embassy and there is a museum consisting items of Victor Hugo.

This house was built in 1800 and it belonged to William Ozanne. There is a saying that the house was haunted by the spirit of a woman who has committed suicide and due to this incident the place remained vacant for a long time. The house consists of four levels and the top floor has a glazed look which offers views of the surrounding areas. The garden to the house is also well maintained and is always flocked by tourists, who takes a look at the beautiful flowers and other plants.

Catle Cornet

Catle Cornet is one of the other castles, which is located at tidal island and is also known as Cornet Rock or Castle Rock. This place was formerly an island and it was later fortified as a castle between 1206 and 1256. The castle was remodeled between 1545 and 1548. Apart from the remains of the castle it also has a museum and a small lake which was once used by the soldiers. Visiting this ancient monument is one of the things to do in Guernsey during your trip to the country.

The Guernsey Tapestry

The idea of tapestry was planned by the island's authority in order to celebrate the island's millennium project, which actually tells the story of the island with the help of embroidered canvas art work. It is located in the capital city and is located in a gallery in the Dorey Centre.
