Trip to Corsica

When traveling to France, you must go for a trip to Corsica. Corsica is the fourth largest Mediterranean Sea island after Sicily, Sardinia, and Cyprus. It is situated to Italy's west, France's southeast, and to Sardinia's north. Corsica is usually considered one amongst the 26 regions of France, although it is a territorial collectivity with slightly more powers. Corsica is separated from the continental mainland by Ligurian Sea. The Strait of Bonifacio separates the island from Sardinia. Tourism is intense around Calvi in the northwest and Porto Vecchio and Bonifacio in the south of the island. Corsica has 1,000km of coastline and more than 200 beaches, and is the most mountainous Mediterranean island. Monte Cinto as the highest peak at 2706 meters and there are 20 other summits of more than 2000 meters each. You will get to discover them all on your trip to Corsica.

With hot, dry summers and mild, rainy winters, the island has a Mediterranean climate so you can travel to Corsica any time of the year. The vegetation is Mediterranean woodlands, shrubs and forests. The mountains are cool and wet, with Corsican mixed forests eco-region with varied forests of pine, oak and broadleaf deciduous trees. The vegetation on the upper reaches which resembles that in northern Europe. The island has a natural park, the Parc Naturel Régional de Corse, with thousands of rare plant and animal species. It comprises of the Réserve Naturelle de Scandola (which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site) and the Golfe de Porto.

Two endangered hoofed mammals, Corsican red deer (Cervus elaphus corsicanus) and mouflon (Ovis aries musimon) inhabit the island. And last but not least, on your trip to Corsica, salute Napoleon with a glass of cognac.
