Cork International Airport is one of the most significant airports of Ireland, along with the Shannon Airport and Dublin Airport. Dublin Airport Authority operates this airport which is based in the Cork City of Ireland. The Cork International Airport is one of the main hubs for British Irish and European destinations. With the increase in passengers during 2006, this airport was declared as the fourth busiest airport of Ireland. Four aircrafts of Air Lingus are based in this airport, along with Aer Aranna and Ryanair.

After a huge amount of discussion and brain-storming sessions the Irish Government passed the idea for the construction of Cork International Airport. Officially this airport of Ireland started its operation on 16th of October, 1961. During the infant stage of Cork International Airport, the Department of Transport and Power was managing its operations. A large amount of improvisation and renovations have been carried out in the later years. Expansion of the airport has been constantly happening since the last decade for accommodating more number of passengers.
Additional construction of new buildings is in the pipeline. The upcoming terminal would cater additional facilities and services to the passengers, making the journey even easier. It would be able to handle almost 3 million passengers every year, with its 30 check-in desks and numerous security counters. In case of charter flights the top names are LTE International Airways, First Choice Airways, Onur Air, Austrian Airlines, Air Via, Monarch Airlines, XL Airways, Dubrovnik Airline and so forth.
