Location of Lazienki Park
The Lazienki Park, which spreads over 80 hectares of land, is situated in the Downtown of Warsaw, on the Royal Route. The park connects the Royal Castle and Wilanow. The park also shares its boundary with Ujazdow Castle in the north.
History of Lazienki Park
Lazienki Park was founded in 17th century by Tylman van Gameren. The park got its name from Lazienki, a pavilion for bathing which was situated in this park. When Stanislaw August Poniatowski was elected as the emperor of Poland, he became the official owner of the garden. The park was built after the baroque fashion. The credit of designing this lavish park goes to some of the notable personalities of Poland like Dominik Merlini, Jan Christian Schuch and Johann Christian Kamsetzer. The park is also known for its palatial buildings which surrounds the Lazienki lake.

Palace on the Water
The palace, which was used by Stanislaw August Poniatowski, was constructed on the lake and is known as Palace on the Water or Palace on the Isle. In the 17th century, Tylman van Gameren constructed the palace for Stanislaus Lubomirski. Later on the palace became the official residence of Stanislaw August Poniatowski for whom the palace was renovated by Dominik Merlini. The palace was built magnificently on an artificial island. There are two bridges which connects islands and the parks.

The palace, which is covered with Dutch tiles, has a magnificent collection of classical paintings and furniture. The pillars and the walls of the buildings are carved with figures from mythology. The palace has a luxurious bathing room built in Chinese pattern, royal apartments, galleries containing paintings, bed chambers and other items used by the members of the royal family.
Temple of Diana
The Temple of Diana was constructed in 1822 in Lazienki Park in order to offer a tribute to Goddess Diana. The temple, which is also known as Temple of the Sylbil, is situated in the northwestern corner of Lazienki lake. The temple built of wood has motifs of flowers and fruits engraved on it.
The Egyptian temple, Old Orangery, New Orangery, White House and Myslewicki Palace are also located inside the Lazienki Park. The sight of this exclusive palaces and gardens will make you spellbound.
