Sinaia

Considered as one pd the most pleasant hill stations in Romania, Sinaia is named after the Sinaia monastery. Some also believe that the hill station got its name from the Biblical holy land of Sinai, mentioned in Milton's the Paradise Lost. The people of Romania were unaware about this beautiful mountain resort till King Carol I of Romania built his summer capital in the region. Since then, the city of Sinaia have always been known for its rolling valleys that reach up to the center of the earth and sombre mountains that aim to touch the sky. With the Bucegi mountain in the west, Sinaia is located in the river valley of Prahova River. Every year tourists flock here in large numbers from all across the continent. While most tourists to Sinaia prefer to come here in the summer season , many adventure lovers aim to be at Sinaia in the waters. With the snow covered peaks lying in the background, many prefer to indulge into such extreme sports like downhill skiing, mountain hiking, rock climbing and mountain biking. In case you are planning to visit Sinaia this vacation do not forget to visit the Peles Castle, Sinaia train station, Pelisor Castle, Franz Joseph, Sinaia Monastery and Saint Anne Cliffs.
Sinaia enjoys a pleasant climate through out the year with the annual average temperature ranging from 8°C to 10°C. Winters are freezing with the minimum temperature shooting down to -4°C. May and June are the summer seasons in Sinaia. In summer the temperature never shoots up above 15°C. Sinaia is one of those places in the continent of Europe with a heavy degree of rainfall. Precipitation occurs in the form of snow in the winters, while summers see, occasional sporadic rainfall.
The layer of snow which is formed by the end of November usually melts down by May. Many springs and tiny rivers originate from the nearby mountains of Sinaia. Majority of the people at Sinaia are engaged into farming, cattle rearing and tourism. The walls of the mountains are tiled in such a a way that no water received by the rain fall can get accommodated. But off late, severe climatic changes across the world are causing extreme changes in the climatic pattern of Sinaia. In fact geologists of Romania have already expressed concerns over the long term effects of such climate changes on Sinaia and its climate. Home to some of the rarest species of flora and fauna Sinaia is a hot favorite for all the natural lovers.
